The status bar is the gray strip at the bottom of the browser window that shows the destination of a hyperlink, or whatever you want. This little script will make a message appear in the status bar of your visitor's browser when they mouse over the hyperlink. With the included hyperlink title tag, you also have the link description that will open on mouse over.

Commission Junction and a few other affiliate sites convert their links for you automatically. Sample text link This doesn't work anymore. Bummer

So in this example I am linking to Amazon with my affiliate code, but the address in the status bar only shows the Amazon address without the affiliate part.  Sometimes I feel bad when I slightly alter the status bar message, as though I am fooling my visitors.  It usually goes away pretty quickly : )
