Sometimes its a real pain, especially if the page you need has lots of pictures or is too long. I really hate it when you have to print an entire second page that is essentially blank, except for the name of the website. I think they do that on purpose.
Here are a few ways to save yourself a little paper (and frustration.)
To print just what you need, first highlight the text you want. Then, on your programs menu line, click "File, Print." When the print dialog box appears, look for a radio button with "Selection" under the print range area. Click it.
Now click OK. Only the highlighted text is printed. This works on lots of different programs, but there are probably times when it won't work. (it's cool when it does!) The next time you get a whole bunch of jokes forwarded to you, but you want to print and remember only the funny one, try it.
Wanna get rid of all these things ">" from your forwarded emails? It takes a few steps, but it is easier than deleting them all by hand. (To learn more about cutting and pasting with your Control key, go here) First, to select the entire message you want to clean, put your cursor somewhere in the text of the email and hit "Control A." To copy the message, hit "Control C."
Open your Word program and paste the message into a new document by hitting "Control V." Go to your Edit menu at the top of your screen and select "Replace." In the "Find and Replace" window that comes up, you will see a box that says "Find What:". Click your cursor in this box and type > Leave the box that says "Replace with:" empty because we don't want to replace it with anything. Then click on the button that says "Replace All". Click OK and they're gone in an instant.
Now is this joke that funny that you want to print it after all, or would you rather just keep it on file to send to someone later? Why not just send it to yourself in an email? You can have your email program automatically filter it into a separate file called jokes. (To learn more about setting up email filters, go to this tip.)
Now print this page for reference later, or just the info you want, although you could save some time and paper and just bookmark this page instead.
